Hi, I'm Dan! I'm a computer programmer and system architect. I straddle the line between hardware and software to make products simple, elegant, and dependable. I have a variety of skills and experience across embedded systems, computer systems/OS/driver architecture and development, communications technology, storage and database technology, and web front-end and back-end systems.
I work at Square. Previously, I architected and developed NAND management technology at Apple. Before that, I co-architected and developed SSDs at Intel, and optimized storage systems for smartphones. And before that, I build web search technology for Ah-ha.com (now part of Marchex), and e-commerce platforms at Pandesic (a well-meaning but defunct dot-com).
I enjoy building and being part of small, capable, teams with challenging and meaningful missions. Shipping products that tangibly improve people's lives. Applying complex technology to make simple products.
I have been granted over 15 US patents in the field of computing systems, architecture, and non-volatile memory management, with many more pending.
